A Swedish preschool has banned the word, him and her to provide a genderless role for children.

Here's something that I thought was such a piece of bullshit -

Egalia preschool, a taxpayer-funded preschool in the liberal Sodermalm district of Stockholm for kids aged one to six is among the most radical examples of Sweden's efforts to engineer equality between the sexes from childhood onward.

Staff try to shed masculine and feminine references from their speech, including the pronouns him or her - "han" or "hon" in Swedish. Instead, they've have adopted the genderless "hen," a word that doesn't exist in Swedish but is used in some feminist and gay circles and address the 33 kids as "friends" rather than girls and boys.

At Egalia - the title connotes "equality" - boys and girls play together with a toy kitchen, waving plastic utensils and pretending to cook. Lego bricks and other building blocks are intentionally placed next to the kitchen to make sure the children draw no mental barriers between cooking and construction.

Director Lotta Rajalin notes that Egalia places a special emphasis on fostering an environment tolerant of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. From a bookcase, she pulls out a story about two male giraffes who are sad to be childless - until they come across an abandoned crocodile egg.

Egalia doesn't deny the biological differences between boys and girls - the dolls the children play with are anatomically correct.

What matters is that children understand that their biological differences "don't mean boys and girls have different interests and abilities," Rajalin says. "This is about democracy. About human equality."

Nearly all the children's books deal with homosexual couples, single parents or adopted children. There are no Snow White, Cinderella or other classic fairy tales seen as cementing stereotypes.

WHAT. THE. FUCK!!!!!!!!

Are you fucking kidding me!!!!!!

Some parents worry things have gone too far. An obsession with obliterating gender roles, they say, could make the children confused and ill-prepared to face the world outside kindergarten.

This is some of the biggest bullshit anyone can come up with. I get trying to teach children they can be whatever they want, within reason as there's just some things you cannot be, but to take their gender from them is bullshit.

We are all born male or female, with some who are born both due to whatever problems there are with the egg and chromosomes, but why is it wrong for girls to bake and raise babies, which they'll be doing when they grow up by the way and I agree with the parents who think it will confuse the kids when they go out into the real world.

It's the world who makes the gender roles. Sexist "societies" of men who don't want women to be C.E.Os and heads of businesses. Sexist aresholes who think women should be chained to the kitchen sink.

It does not matter WHAT you teach your child, the thousands of years of gender roles will always fall in line. As long as men are the sexist pricks they are, and women think they are not good enough to be better than they are and do the job better than men then there will be no change, regardless of what type of schools there are.

Unless people RIGHT NOW change their attitude, nothing will change.

  1. Hm... I agree with you that you that you shouldn't take away gender from kids, yet I think that classifying them as friends instead of girls and boys and mix them in stead of separating will make them less sexiest and better people then maybe out generation and definitely the generations before.
